Kids Read Every Flashcard and Still Forgot. So We Built Them an AI Tutor.
Six months ago, Shikhi AI was just an idea. We started with flashcards, then quizzes, then an AI tutor. Each one exists because of what the last one couldn't do.

The short version
Six months ago, Shikhi AI was just an idea. Today it's a real product. And it got here one problem at a time:
- Flashcards so kids could study without staring at a wall of text.
- MCQ quizzes because reading alone wasn't enough to remember.
- An AI tutor because nobody was actually asking them anything.
Step 1: Flashcards, because a wall of text doesn't work
We started with flashcards. The NCTB syllabus, every chapter broken down into small cards. Kids could finally study without staring at a wall of text.
It worked.
But after a while we realised reading alone wasn't enough. Kids were going through the cards but not really retaining anything.
Step 2: MCQ quizzes, because reading isn't remembering
So we added MCQ quizzes. Finish a chapter, attempt a quiz on that exact chapter. Now kids weren't just reading, they were testing themselves.

This was better. But something still felt off.
They were practising. But nobody was actually asking them anything.
Step 3: An AI tutor that asks questions back
So we built an AI tutor.
The kid selects a subject, then selects a chapter. The tutor already knows everything about that chapter. No setup needed. If they're confused, they can ask the tutor. If they think they're done, the tutor will ask them.

How we build: watch what's broken, then fix it
Flashcards, then quizzes, then the AI tutor. Each one was a response to what the previous one couldn't do.
That's honestly how we've been building the whole time. Not planning everything upfront, just watching what's still broken and fixing it.
Still a lot to go. But this felt like a real step forward.

Frequently asked questions
What is Shikhi AI?
Shikhi AI is a learning app for primary school kids in Bangladesh, from Class 3 to Class 5, built on the NCTB syllabus. It has flashcards for every chapter, MCQ quizzes on the exact chapters a child has studied, and an AI tutor that already knows each chapter and is available 24/7.
How does the Shikhi AI tutor work?
The child selects a subject and a chapter. The tutor already knows everything in that chapter, so there's no setup. The child presses and holds to talk: if they're confused, they ask the tutor, and if they think they're done, the tutor asks them questions to check.
Why build an AI tutor instead of just flashcards and quizzes?
Flashcards helped kids read, but they weren't retaining much. Quizzes made them test themselves, but nobody was actually asking them anything. The AI tutor fills that gap, like a teacher who knows exactly what you just studied and won't let you off easy.
Which classes and syllabus does Shikhi AI cover?
Shikhi AI is made for kids in Class 3 to 5 and follows the NCTB (National Curriculum and Textbook Board) syllabus used in Bangladesh, with lessons in science, English and maths.
Where can I get Shikhi AI?
Shikhi AI is available from shikhiai.com, with download links for Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store).
